Wise Words That Most People (Still) Haven’t Heard

Jude Colin

Do you every hear a piece of advice (from some wise coworker, or perhaps your Granny) that has you saying to yourself:

“Why have I never heard this until NOW?”

The reason I’m bringing the Grannies into this is that the last time I had an overwhelmingly, “Why have I never heard this?” kind of feeling was when my good friend told me what her Granny always said to her growing up:

“If you ever meet someone you really like, and have a really good time with immediately: BEWARE.”

I heard that little Granny-esque pearl of wisdom, and was instantly flooded by memories of meeting people, and initially thinking, “Wow, this person is too much fun!” … and in almost every instance, the person I thought was my long lost best friend or “twin flame” actually turned out to be SO TOXIC, THEIR VERY MEMORY CAN CAUSE A TRAUMA FLASHBACK.

Since then, I have spoken to dozens of wise people. Some already existed my my everyday life, and some were new characters in the play of my life. I have compiled a list of some of my favorite pieces of advice that I’m fairly certain most people have not heard yet (but need to). I touched them up with language that it sound li

  1. Embrace the beauty of uncertainty: Uncertainty is not a weakness, but a doorway to growth. Embrace the unknown, for it is within these uncharted territories that we discover our greatest strengths and most profound learnings.
  2. Your worth is not defined by your achievements: You are more than your accomplishments, titles, or possessions. Your inherent value lies in your existence, your unique perspective, and the love you share with others.
  3. The present moment is all that truly exists: The past is but a memory, and the future is but a dream. Focus on the present, for it is the only moment you can truly influence and shape.
  4. Pain is a teacher, not an enemy: Suffering is an opportunity for growth, not a source of shame. Embrace your pain, and let it guide you towards self-awareness, resilience, and compassion.
  5. Your thoughts are not your identity: You are not your thoughts; you are the observer of those thoughts. Recognize the distinction, and learn to separate your true self from the ephemeral whispers of your mind.
  6. Forgiveness is a gift to yourself: Forgiveness is not about absolving others of their wrongdoing, but about releasing the toxic burden of resentment from your own heart. Set yourself free from the shackles of bitterness and embrace the liberating power of forgiveness.
  7. Comparison is a thief of joy: Measure your success not against others, but against your own growth and progress. Celebrate your unique journey, and do not let the accomplishments of others diminish your own sense of self-worth.
  8. Self-love is not selfish: Loving yourself is not a indulgent luxury, but a necessary foundation for a life of purpose, joy, and meaningful relationships. Treat yourself with kindness, compassion, and understanding, just as you would a dear friend.
  9. Your vulnerability is your greatest strength: Embrace your vulnerabilities, for they are the gateways to connection, intimacy, and true relationships. Share your fears, hopes, and doubts with others, and watch as your bonds with them deepen and strengthen.

10. The journey is the destination: The present moment is the only moment that truly exists, and the journey itself is the ultimate destination. Embrace the process, learn to appreciate the small victories, and find joy in the unfolding of your life’s narrative.

11. Your inner critic is a liar: That voice of self-doubt and criticism is not the truth. Recognize it as a manifestation of fear and ignorance. Treat it with compassion, and replace it with affirmations of self-love and self-acceptance.

12. The only constant is change: Embrace the fluidity of life. Nothing remains the same, and change is an opportunity for growth. Adapt, evolve, and learn to dance with the ebbs and flows of existence.

13. Gratitude is the key to abundance: Focus on what you already have, rather than what you lack. Gratitude unlocks the doors to abundance, joy, and contentment. Cultivate a sense of appreciation for the smallest blessings, and watch your life transform.

14. Your body is a temple: Treat your physical vessel with respect, care, and love. Nourish it with wholesome foods, movement, and rest. Your body is a sacred instrument, tuned to transmit your soul’s highest potential.

15. Silence is a powerful teacher: In a world filled with noise and distractions, silence can be a transformative catalyst. Embrace quiet moments to listen to your inner voice, and tap into the wisdom of your soul.

16. Embrace your quirks and individuality: Celebrate what makes you unique! Your quirks, passions, and interests are the threads that weave the tapestry of your authentic self. Embrace them, and do not try to conform to the expectations of others.

17. The power of intention: Your intentions shape your reality. Set clear, positive intentions, and focus on the present moment. Your intentions will manifest in ways both grand and subtle, guiding you towards your highest potential.

18. Self-care is not selfish: Prioritize your own well-being, for it is the foundation upon which you build your relationships, accomplishments, and contributions to the world. Self-care is an act of self-love, and a necessary investment in your overall happiness.

19. The art of surrender: Let go of attachments to outcomes, expectations, and control. Surrender to the present moment, and trust that the universe is guiding you towards your highest good.

20. Love is the greatest teacher: Love is the most powerful force in the universe. Embrace it, share it, and learn from it. Through love, you will discover the depths of your own strength, resilience, and compassion.

I hope at least a couple of these made you feel the way I felt when I friend spoke of her Granny’s ancient wisdom.

Bless!
