The person who always sees the glass as half full, even when it’s bone dry. The one who insists on giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, even when the evidence is staring them straight in the face. The individual who believes that tomorrow will always be better than today, no matter what.
Now, I’m not here to disparage the idea of optimism altogether…
What kind of miserable mf-er would I have to be to poo poo positivity outright, and fully?
A little bit of positivity can go a long way, especially in difficult times. But the rigorous optimism we write about here tonight?

You see, when we blindly assume that everything will work out in the end, we’re not doing ourselves any favors. In fact, we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment and frustration. When we consistently give people the benefit of the doubt, we’re often ignoring the warning signs that something is amiss. We’re choosing to overlook the red flags, the lies, the broken promises. And why? Because we’re so desperate to believe that everyone is inherently good? That everything will eventually work out?
